Gamers, get your wallets ready — the Nintendo Switch 2 is officially launching in South Africa this June, and while it promises next-gen fun, it’s going to cost a pretty penny.
Nintendo has finally revealed local pricing for the highly anticipated console, along with accessories and game titles you’ll want to start budgeting for now.
Here’s what you can expect to pay:
Standard Nintendo Switch 2 Console – R12,499
Mario Kart World Bundle – R13,499
The Mario Kart World Bundle is basically the same as the standard version, but it includes a code to download Mario Kart World — a must-have if you’re planning to race your friends from day one.
No surprise — the add-ons are where the costs start to creep up. Here’s the damage:
Extra Charger – R799
Joy-Con 2 Controllers (Set) – R2,299
Switch 2 Camera (for video chat) – R1,499
Yup, that’s right — Switch 2 comes with a new video chat feature, but you’ll need the camera accessory to make it work.
One of the smartest upgrades? Extra storage. Nintendo is launching 256GB MicroSD Card Express cards for R1,499. These Nintendo-branded cards are the only ones officially supported for now, and take note — standard MicroSD cards won’t work. Be sure to grab one if you plan to download a lot of games or content.
Game prices have gone up too. Here are two big launch titles:
Mario Kart World – R1,999
Donkey Kong Bananza – R1,799
